Malaysia reports 2,867 new COVID-19 infections, 2 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 2,867 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the national total to 4,566,055, according to the health ministry.

There are four new imported cases, with 2,863 cases being local transmissions, data released by the ministry showed.

Two new deaths have been reported, taking the death toll to 35,765.

The ministry reported 2,145 new recoveries, lifting the total number of cured and discharged to 4,500,856.

There are 29,434 active cases, with 43 being held in intensive care and 25 of those in need of assisted breathing.

The country reported 5,188 vaccine doses administered on Thursday and 85.8 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 83.5 percent are fully vaccinated and 49.4 percent have received boosters.
