Pakistan reports 52 new COVID-19 cases

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan reported 52 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the country's ministry of health said on Tuesday.

The tally of infections increased to 1,529,405 after adding the new cases, according to the data released by the ministry.

A total of 30,378 people died from COVID-19 in the country, with two more deaths on Monday, according to the ministry's statistics.

On Monday, 14,238 tests for COVID-19 were conducted in Pakistan while the positivity rate stood at 0.37 percent.

Currently, there are 108 active cases that are in critical condition in the South Asian country.

The country's south Sindh province was the hardest hit with 577,142 cases, followed by the east Punjab province, which reported 506,804 cases.
