Singapore's manufacturing output grows 7.1 pct in first quarter

SINGAPORE, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The Singapore Economic Development Board said on Tuesday that the country's manufacturing output increased 7.1 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2022. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output grew 10 percent year on year.

In March, Singapore's manufacturing output grew 3.4 percent year on year, compared to a revised 17.5-percent increase in February. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output grew 9.7 percent year on year.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, Singapore's manufacturing output decreased 12.6 percent in March. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output fell 6.1 percent.

As for performance of different clusters, the electronics cluster's output increased 14.5 percent year on year in March and 14.6 percent in the first quarter of this year.

The biomedical manufacturing cluster saw its output decline 26.3 percent year on year in March, compared to a revised 26.1-percent increase in February. In the first quarter of 2022, the output of the biomedical manufacturing cluster decreased 6.8 percent year on year.
