NEW DELHI, April 19 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 of a family were killed and eight others injured Tuesday after a vehicle carrying them rammed into a stationary tractor-trolley in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, police said.
The accident took place in Jhunjhunu district, about 135 km north of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.
According to the police, the victims were returning after offering prayers at a temple. Preliminary investigations show that the vehicle was being rashly driven, police said.
Around 150,000 people are killed every year in around half a million road accidents across India, officials said. ■
