KABUL, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A total of 32 million U.S. dollars of humanitarian cash arrived in Afghanistan's Kabul, the country's central bank Da Afghanistan Bank said Tuesday.
"This is the 24th cash package in humanitarian assistance, which was received by Afghanistan on Tuesday," said the bank in a statement released here. The money was transferred to the Afghanistan International Bank (AIB).
On Monday and Sunday, the bank received similar batches of 32 million U.S. dollars respectively and the sum has been handed over to the private AIB bank.
The international community has been sending humanitarian batches of cash, food and clothes to Afghans.
More than 22 million out of the country's 35 million population, according to aid agencies, are facing acute food shortages. ■
