BAZARAK, Afghanistan, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The local government of Afghanistan's Panjshir said Sunday it has distributed more than 2,000 fruit saplings for plantation in the northeastern province.
The province's department of agriculture, irrigation and livestock has distributed the young trees to the seven districts on a quota basis, the local government said in a statement.
Distribution and plantation of the Turkish-funded saplings came as part of an ongoing tree-planting campaign across the war-torn Asian country to raise public awareness of the importance of planting trees.
The Taliban-led caretaker government has also speeded up its efforts to solve problems facing Afghan farmers and help them use advanced technologies in farming, according to officials. ■
