HERAT, Afghanistan, April 4 (Xinhua) -- A water supply project has been launched in Afghanistan's western Herat province, the local media outlet Salam Watandar reported Monday.

Work for the project started on Sunday with a cost of 91 million afghani (1.03 million U.S. dollars). The project is planned to benefit 2,500 households by providing potable water in their houses.

According to the news report, the Herat municipality is expected to launch more public projects this year.
