MANILA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- COVID-19 infections in the Philippines continue to slow, averaging less than 500 cases daily, as over 65 million people have been fully vaccinated, a health official said on Tuesday.

"The COVID-19 cases slowed down in all areas," Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said at a virtual press conference, adding that all regions remain "at minimal risk."

She said the country's positivity rate is at 2.7 percent and continues to decrease. Over 65.2 million people, or 72.49 percent of the targeted population, have been fully vaccinated in the country with around 110 million population.

China delivered Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine on Feb. 28 last year, allowing the Philippines to kick off its vaccination drive the very next day. China has sustained the COVID-19 vaccine supply to the Southeast Asian country, remaining its biggest supplier.

As of Tuesday, the Philippines has over 3.67 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 58,276 deaths.
