KABUL, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- At least three commuters have been confirmed dead and 14 others injured in two road accidents in Afghanistan's northern region.
In one of the accidents that took place in Khawja Ghar district of the northern Takhar province Friday night, three travelers were killed and two others critically injured, local official Sayed Yusuf said Saturday.
The other accident involved a passenger bus that collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction in Salang Pass linking the national capital Kabul to the northern provinces on Friday afternoon, leaving 12 injured, said Mohammad Akram, an official of Salang Pass maintenance department.
Congested roads and reckless driving, according to traffic officials, often lead to deadly traffic accidents in war-torn Afghanistan. ■
