NEW DELHI, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Delhi would be lifted soon.
"On Jan. 15, the positivity rate was 30 percent in Delhi, 10 days after on Jan. 25, it has come dome to 10-10.5 percent," Kejriwal said.
Last week, the Delhi government sent a proposal to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal regarding easing of restrictions, including the weekend curfew, amid a dip in daily infections.
While Baijal agreed to some recommendations, he rejected the proposal related to the lifting of the weekend curfew, the chief minister said.
Kejriwal said they would work on the issue, and the restrictions will be put to an end in the national capital "as soon as possible," adding that all people in Delhi have got the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 82 percent have received both doses.
At present, India is in the grip of the third wave of COVID-19. ■
