JAKARTA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's annual inflation rate in December 2021 rose as prices of basic necessities and commercial flight tickets increased amid the Christmas and year-end holiday season, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) said on Monday.
According to BPS head Margo Yuwono, the consumer price index has risen 1.87 percent year-on-year (yoy), the highest in the past 18 months, and 0.57 percent month-to-month (mtm), the highest in the past two years.
"This is the highest inflation in 2021, even since July 2020," Yuwono said at a press conference, referring to the annual inflation figure.
The figure differs slightly from Bank Indonesia's estimate of 1.9 percent yoy and 0.6 percent mtm, and is still lower than the central bank's target of 2 to 4 percent. Enditem
