JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- A poultry feed factory had been inaugurated in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province, the local government announced on Wednesday.

With the capacity of processing 12 tons of chicken feed round the clock, the factory was built by Tal Pesarly, a private local trade company, in Sheikh Misri industrial park in Nangarhar's Surkh Rod district, the local government said in a statement.

The trade company has invested about 15 million U.S. dollars in building the factory in Nangarhar, the statement said.

The factory will provide job opportunities for 500 local workers and distribute chicken feed to Afghan provinces besides exporting to Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, the statement said.

Production activities have gradually been resuming in some of Afghanistan's 34 provinces since the Taliban's takeover of the country in mid-August this year. A paper mill resumed operation in neighboring Paktia province in September.

Jalalabad, some 120 km east of Afghanistan's capital of Kabul, is the capital of Nangarhar province. Enditem
