LOME, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy hospital ship Auspicious Ark arrived in Lome, the capital of Togo, on Sunday to begin a friendly visit and provide medical services, marking the first visit by a Chinese naval hospital ship to Togo.
During the visit, the hospital ship, which is carrying out Mission Harmony-2026, will provide medical services for local patients aboard the vessel, while a medical team will visit a Togolese military hospital for academic exchanges.
The mission will also organize a deck reception and a friendly basketball match with Togolese military personnel to further strengthen exchanges and friendship.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972, China and Togo have maintained sound bilateral relations. In September 2024, the two countries elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. In October 2026, the two heads of state announced the elevation of bilateral relations to a China-Togo community with a shared future for the new era. ■
