TUNIS, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri on Thursday depicted consolidating peace and security as a fundamental condition for Africa's development, according to a statement by the Tunisian government.

Zenzri made the remarks at the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow.

Describing the current international situation as extremely complex, Zenzri said converging crises, from armed conflicts to economic and climate risks, call for comprehensive approaches and effective international solidarity.

Prevention is better than cure, she said, urging stronger preventive diplomacy and greater support for the African Union's early warning, mediation and peaceful settlement. "African solutions to African problems" remain a pillar of lasting peace, she added.

Running on Oct. 28-29, the summit brought together representatives from 48 African countries and adopted a declaration calling for a more multipolar world order, greater African representation in global governance, and expanded cooperation in trade, energy, security, and technology. ■
