YAOUNDE, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- A drone strike of unknown origin left four people dead and 14 injured in the locality of Bamina in Chad's Wadi Fira province near the border with Sudan, local authorities and media said Wednesday.
The incident occurred Tuesday when the strike specifically targeted the Bamina market, witnesses told local media.
Brahim Issa Galmaye, the government's delegate for the province, visited the site to assess the damage and offer condolences to the bereaved families. He called for an immediate investigation to determine the origin of the attack.
"We do not know where the drone came from," he said.
The 14 injured were admitted to the Tine Djagaraba district hospital, where they were receiving medical care.
In March this year, a drone attack in the same province killed more than 20 people. These successive security incidents prompted Chadian authorities to completely close the 1,300-kilometer border separating the country from Sudan. ■
