RABAT, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's designated prime minister Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri announced Monday that four political parties had agreed to form the parliamentary majority supporting her incoming government, the official Moroccan news agency MAP reported.

The coalition comprises the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), the Istiqlal Party, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) and the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), which together hold 207 seats in the 395-member House of Representatives, according to final election results released by the Interior Ministry.

El Mansouri was appointed head of government by Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Sept. 29 after PAM emerged as the largest party in the Sept. 23 parliamentary elections, securing 97 seats. She is the first woman to hold the post.

The coalition's combined seats exceed the 198 needed for an absolute majority.

The agreement leaves the National Rally of Independents (RNI), which won 66 seats and finished second, outside the governing coalition.

In a statement Monday, El Mansouri said the agreement followed two rounds of consultations aimed at building a politically coherent majority.

The four parties will propose candidates for ministerial posts, while negotiations continue on the cabinet's composition and the government program. ■
