CAIRO, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart Mohi El-Din Salem reaffirmed ties between their countries during a phone call on Monday, following a shooting in Khartoum that killed two Egyptian truck drivers and injured another.
The two sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation, maintain close coordination and consultation, and continue efforts to strengthen ties in the interests of both countries, said a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
The call also addressed ways to implement the outcomes of the consultative quadrilateral summit held earlier this month in Egypt's coastal city of New Alamein, which brought together the leaders of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia, it said.
Separately, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Monday it was closely following the shooting incident in the Sudanese capital, in which an armed man opened fire on a number of Egyptian truck drivers, killing two and injuring another.
Sudanese authorities informed the Egyptian ambassador that the suspect had been arrested, the ministry said. ■
