NAIROBI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Two Chinese art exhibitions concluded Saturday at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi after a two-week run, providing a platform for cultural exchange between Kenya and China.
The dual exhibitions featured Chinese mythology through paintings, ceramics, sculptures and embroidery, alongside artworks highlighting China's rural revitalization, cultural heritage and community development.
Ketan Desai, a visitor from Eldoret in western Kenya, said the paintings are "very elegant and unique," adding that some illustrated China's history and development.
"I enjoyed viewing these pieces of art because they enlightened us about Chinese culture," he said.
Michael Kong'a, an interior design major at the University of Nairobi, visited the exhibitions after learning about the event from acquaintances.
"I am impressed by the paintings on display. The canvas, choice of colors and lighting are quite inspiring for me as an interior designer. Chinese art is beautiful and simple," Kong'a said.
Dozens of schoolchildren, accompanied by teachers and parents, toured the gallery ahead of the exhibition's closing.
During the exhibition, China's Sichuan Fine Arts Institute donated more than 30 artworks from its collection to the National Museums of Kenya, with Zhang Liang, a curator at the institute, presenting the works.
The donation will remain at the museum as a lasting reminder of the friendship between China and Kenya and help promote greater understanding of Chinese art and culture, according to Zhang. ■
