TRIPOLI, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Libyan airline MedSky on Thursday resumed direct air services between Libya and France after a hiatus of more than 15 years, launching a triangular route connecting Tripoli, Paris and Benghazi.
The inaugural flight departed from Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli on Thursday morning, arrived at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport around midday, and then continued to Benina International Airport in Benghazi in the early afternoon, according to MedSky and the Libyan News Agency (LANA).
The route provides passengers with direct air connectivity between Libya and France, linking Tripoli, the country's capital, and the eastern city of Benghazi to Paris.
The direct service between the two countries had been suspended for more than 15 years before MedSky relaunched the route on Thursday, according to the airliner.
Earlier this month, the French Embassy in Libya welcomed the expected launch of the direct air route between Libya and France, describing it as an important step toward strengthening ties between the two countries and facilitating passenger travel. ■
