MAPUTO, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The signing ceremony and award presentation for the 2026 CNPC "Moz-Dream" Scholarship was held Saturday at the Confucius Institute of Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) in Maputo, with 36 Mozambican students receiving scholarships in recognition of their performance in Chinese-language studies.
The event was attended by UEM Vice-Rector Amalia Alexandre Uamusse, General Manager of CNPC Africa Lu Jiangbo, representatives of UEM and CNPC Mozambique, as well as teachers and students from the Confucius Institute.
Uamusse thanked the CNPC for its support, saying the scholarship program, launched in 2023, had helped develop Chinese-language talent and broaden opportunities for young people.
She encouraged the scholarship recipients to continue improving their Chinese and make good use of the opportunities provided by the program.
Lu said education was a foundation for national development and an important bridge for exchanges between civilizations. As an energy company operating in Mozambique, CNPC actively fulfills its social responsibilities, he said, adding that the scholarship was not only a recognition of outstanding students but also reflected the company's support for young people in Mozambique.
Jessica Paulo, one of the scholarship recipients, said the scholarship would provide valuable support for her Chinese-language studies.
"I am very happy with this opportunity because it will be of great value to me and will also help me improve the language itself, which we have been studying here in the country," she said.
The "Moz-Dream" Scholarship has so far supported nearly 500 students. ■
