TUNIS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied on Monday met with visiting German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation and ways to further develop their partnership, according to a statement from the Tunisian presidency.
Saied reaffirmed Tunisia's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Germany, particularly in higher education, scientific research, vocational training, energy and technological innovation.
Saied called for a review of several existing agreements, including the partnership agreement between Tunisia and the European Union.
Earlier in the day, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali Nafti and Wadephul co-chaired a bilateral working session.
Germany is one of Tunisia's major economic partners, according to a statement issued by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
Nafti reaffirmed Tunisia's commitment to creating favorable conditions to encourage more German tourists to visit his country.
The two sides signed several agreements and financing contracts worth nearly 100 million euros (about 116 million U.S. dollars), covering support for small and medium-sized enterprises, energy, environment, digital transitions, as well as regional development and employment. ■
