MAPUTO, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Nacala-a-Velha district, Mozambique's northern Nampula Province, local media reported Monday.
The accident occurred Sunday afternoon near a dam in Nacala-a-Velha, when a passenger vehicle traveling from Monapo to the port city of Nacala swerved into the opposite lane to avoid potholes and collided with an oncoming truck.
Six people were killed at the scene, while five others sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor and were taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Both vehicles were damaged in the collision, with one of them severely damaged.
According to local media, this was the second road accident recorded at the same location this year, while dozens of accidents have occurred along the Nacala Port-Nampula road section. ■
