LUSAKA, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema won re-election in Zambia's presidential poll, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) declared early Tuesday.
The commission declared the official results at the National Election Results Center in the Zambian capital of Lusaka, announcing Hichilema as the winner.
According to ECZ, Hichilema secured more than 50 percent of the valid votes cast, meeting the constitutional requirement for an outright victory without a run-off. ■
