TRIPOLI, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Zawiya Power Plant in western Libya was targeted by unidentified drones on Tuesday, a source at the General Electricity Company of Libya has said.
The attack damaged the plant's firefighting system, the source told local Al-Ahrar TV, adding another drone crashed near the main fuel tank supplying the plant.
The attack came after a series of drone strikes targeting oil and other vital facilities in the city of Zawiya over the past two days.
On Monday evening, a drone destroyed a 4.5-million-liter gasoline tank at the Zawiya oil complex, sparking a large fire, the National Oil Corporation said. The assault then widened beyond storage units to other vital facilities in the city, it added. ■
