ACCRA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on Friday announced replacements for two cabinet members killed in a helicopter crash last year, according to a statement from the presidency.
Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, a member of parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency, replaced the late Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed as minister of environment, science, technology and innovation. Parliament's Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga was named as minister of local government, chieftaincy and religious affairs.
Ahmed Ibrahim, the outgoing minister of local government, chieftaincy and religious affairs, was appointed minister of works, housing and water resources, replacing Kenneth Gilbert Adjei. Adjei, in turn, was nominated as defense minister, succeeding the late Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, who was among eight people killed in the helicopter crash last August.
On Thursday, the Ghanaian government held a memorial service for the eight victims of the crash. ■
