DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 35th Chinese medical team to Zanzibar on Tuesday conducted a free clinic for children, offering health services and education aimed at improving child healthcare.

The outreach program, held at Mwanakwerekwe Kindergarten on Unguja Island, provided nearly 100 children with medical examinations and treatment for common health concerns, including vision, oral health, and ear, nose, and throat conditions.

By combining health screening, diagnosis, and health education, the medical team delivered comprehensive care while promoting disease-prevention awareness among both children and teachers.

The team also conducted specialized examinations for children with special needs, marking the first time such services have been provided by the 35th Chinese medical team to Zanzibar.

School headteacher Kibibi Suleiman expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it addressed gaps in access to health screening and education for local pupils.

Bao Zengtao, captain of the Chinese medical team, said that children's health remains a priority for the team, which will continue organizing similar outreach programs to support community health and deepen China-Tanzania cooperation in public health.
