ALGIERS, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- A passenger bus crash on Thursday in northeastern Algeria's Constantine province killed six people and injured 19 others, the Civil Protection Department said in a statement.
Emergency teams continue to provide first aid to the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals as rescue operations remain underway, it said.
According to an earlier statement posted by the department on social media, the crash took place on National Road 79, where the bus veered off the road, overturned and fell down a slope.
The incident came less than a week after a passenger bus crash in northern Algeria's Boumerdes province killed 27 people and injured 42 others. ■
