CONAKRY, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and several others injured in a road accident in Guinea on Tuesday at Labota on National Road No. 1 linking Conakry and Kindia, local media reported.
According to news website Africaguinee, the accident resulted from a violent collision between a truck traveling from Conakry and a public transport vehicle coming from Kindia.
The victims who died at the scene were transferred to the regional hospital in Kindia, while the injured were evacuated to the prefectural hospital in Coyah for treatment.
According to local media, preliminary information suggests that several factors may have contributed to the accident, including violations of traffic regulations, speeding and the narrow width of the roadway. ■
