MOGADISHU, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Somalia has launched a national consultation to review and update its National Stabilization Strategy (2027-2030), aiming to strengthen the country's approach to peacebuilding, governance, and recovery amid ongoing security and development challenges.
The consultation, launched on Tuesday under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, brought together government institutions, federal member states, civil society organizations, the private sector and international partners to develop a coordinated, inclusive and nationally owned stabilization framework.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation Abdihakim Ashkir said the consultations would draw on lessons learned from previous implementation to address emerging challenges while defining strategic priorities for peacebuilding, local governance, community resilience and sustainable development.
Ashkir emphasized that the renewed framework must be government-led, community-owned and grounded in the realities of the people it is intended to serve.
He noted that amid shifting international support, Somalia must adopt a nationally driven and adaptive approach that reinforces institutional responsibility, responds to local needs, and delivers lasting peace and resilience.
The ministry said the updated strategy must provide a practical framework that links the national vision with local realities, promotes accountability and translates dialogue into concrete action for lasting peace and recovery. ■
