CAIRO, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Sunday held a phone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to discuss regional developments and efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full solidarity with Kuwait and condemned "unjustified attacks targeting the country's security, stability and sovereignty," according to the statement.
He said security in the Gulf is integral to Arab national security and called for respect for sovereignty, good neighborliness, and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, the statement read.
The Egyptian minister also briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart on Cairo's outreach to regional and international partners to advance de-escalation, stressing the need for maintaining close coordination between the two countries, it read.
For his part, the Kuwaiti foreign minister praised Egypt's ongoing consultations with Kuwait and its firm stance against attacks targeting the Gulf country, it added.
The phone call came amid escalating regional tensions following recent exchanges of airstrikes between the United States and Iran, as well as the emergence of a new Red Sea front involving Yemen's Houthis and Saudi Arabia. ■
