KIGALI, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The 19th Rwanda Agricultural Show has officially opened at Mulindi Show Ground in Kigali's Gasabo District, as part of the government's effort to accelerate sustainable farming and strengthen food security.
Held under the theme "Accelerating Agri-Food Systems Transformation through Innovation and Strategic Partnerships," the exhibition, which runs through July 31, has drawn agriculture and livestock farmers, agricultural leaders, tech innovators, and international development partners.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Thursday, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources Telesphore Ndabamenye emphasized the importance of innovation in achieving agricultural goals.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to agricultural transformation, Ndabamenye called on farmers to adopt not only agricultural insurance to avoid losses occasioned by climate change but also modern farming practices to improve their farm yields.
He underscored the need for partnerships among innovators, financial institutions, the government and service providers to address the challenges facing the country's farming sector, saying such collaboration remains the engine of agricultural transformation.
This year's exhibition has attracted more than 600 exhibitors, reflecting the increasing interest in agricultural innovation, agribusiness, and sustainable food systems. On display are a variety of products, including greenhouse innovations, irrigation technology, fertilizer solutions, and modern farming equipment. ■
