ACCRA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Educational authorities in Ghana have included the study of the Chinese language in the newly revised curriculum for pre-school and primary school pupils, the state-run Daily Graphic newspaper reported on Thursday.
The curriculum, presented to Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), focuses on 13 subject areas, including Arabic, French, Chinese, Mathematics, Ghanaian languages and English, for pre-school and primary schools.
NaCCA Director-General Samuel Ofori Obuobisah Bekoe told the minister that the newly revised curriculum aims to address learning gaps, reduce subject overload, and align with new national priorities as part of the fulfillment of the government's manifesto pledge.
The minister consequently tasked the Ghana Education Service with reviewing the revised curriculum within one week and bringing it to full implementation readiness while ensuring strict quality standards for smooth classroom execution, the report said. ■
