NAIROBI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The 11th edition of the China Trade Week opened on Wednesday in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, bringing together business leaders and exhibitors to strengthen economic cooperation between China and Africa.

The three-day event, taking place concurrently with the sixth Africa Technology Show, the fourth Africa Build Show, and the third Megawatt Africa, provided a platform for business networking, investment promotion, and industrial knowledge exchange.

David Wang, chairman of MIE Group, the organizer of the China Trade Week, said that the event attracted over 200 exhibitors from 20 countries, including 88 from China.

"The exhibition plays a role in strengthening bilateral commercial ties by serving as a vital bridge for Chinese enterprises seeking sustainable local partnerships across the African continent," Wang said.

He said the expo will showcase the latest products in fintech, consumer technology, power generation, lighting, renewable energy, and building materials.

Thomas Karungu, alternate director to the principal secretary in the State Department for Energy, urged Kenyan entrepreneurs to leverage the expo to build links with Chinese firms that will advance the country's transition to green energy.

Karungu added that China has experience in large-scale manufacturing of electrical equipment that could expand access to electricity in Kenya.

Wang Shanhua, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Jiangsu Sub-Council and the Jiangsu Chamber of International Commerce, noted that Kenya's Vision 2030 development blueprint prioritizes the energy and infrastructure development sectors, which align with Jiangsu's industrial strengths in power and water treatment equipment.

For this year's China Trade Week, the CCPIT Jiangsu organized 22 enterprises to showcase "Made-in-Jiangsu" technologies, aimed at matching Kenya's demand and driving high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, Wang said.
