CAIRO, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met here on Sunday with U.S. President's Senior Advisor for Africa Massad Boulos on the latest regional developments, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
On Sudan, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the country's sovereignty, stability and unity, urging a lasting ceasefire, greater humanitarian aid, and a Sudanese-led, Sudanese-owned political process, said the statement.
Regarding Libya, he reiterated Egypt's backing for its national unity and institutions, advocating a Libyan-led political settlement leading to simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, said the statement.
Abdelatty also called for upholding peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
For his part, Boulos underscored the importance of sustained coordination with Egypt on regional issues, said the statement.
Earlier in the day, Abdelatty also held separate talks in Cairo with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on regional issues, according to the ministry. ■
