FREETOWN, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The China-Sierra Leone Nursing Training Center has conducted the second specialized course of its inaugural training program, combining telemedicine technology with practical clinical instruction to strengthen the skills of frontline nurses in Sierra Leone.

Held on Friday at the telemedicine center of the Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital, the training connected medical experts from China directly to the country's capital, Freetown, through a digital platform. More than 40 nurses from hospitals across Sierra Leone participated.

Meanwhile, on-site lectures were delivered by members of the 27th batch of the Chinese medical team to Sierra Leone. The experts presented primary eye care techniques, practical guidance on the diagnosis, emergency triage, and nursing management of common ear, nose, and throat conditions, translating specialist procedures into bedside nursing practices.

The interactive session allowed participants to raise practical questions on eye care, including medication use and proper nursing techniques.

Agnes Anthony Fofanal, a state-registered nurse from Ola During Children's Hospital, said the diagnostic skills and examination techniques shared by the Chinese experts would provide immediate benefits for patient care in local hospitals.

The training forms part of the ongoing cooperation between the Chinese medical team and Sierra Leone's healthcare sector, aiming to strengthen nursing capacity and promote standardized frontline clinical practices through specialized training and digital health technology.
