DAR ES SALAAM, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The 28th batch of the Chinese medical team in mainland Tanzania on Wednesday delivered a health education lecture on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and infectious disease prevention at the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam.
Addressing participants, Wang Hongqing, a member of the medical team, demonstrated practical techniques, including acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping therapy, allowing teachers and students to experience TCM diagnosis and treatment firsthand.
Ridhwani Juma Mohamed, a first-year student learning Chinese at the institute, said the lecture broadened his understanding of TCM and encouraged him to explore it as a healthcare option. He also expressed hope that Chinese doctors would extend such health education lectures to other institutions.
In a separate session, Liu Jia, leader of the medical team, outlined prevention and control measures for common infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue fever based on Tanzania's local health profile.
Liu said that the team would continue to provide health education, free clinics and technical support to strengthen Tanzania's healthcare capacity. ■
