PARIS, July 6 (Xinhua) -- All French diplomats stationed in Burkina Faso have returned to France, and Burkina Faso's diplomatic staff must leave France by Monday evening, French foreign ministry was quoted by Le Figaro as saying on Monday.
The move came after the Burkina Faso authorities unilaterally announced on June 26 the decision to sever diplomatic relations with France with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office of Burkina Faso, the decision followed "a thorough assessment of the current state of bilateral relations between Burkina Faso and France."
On the same day, French foreign ministry said that "France regrets this hostile and unfounded decision, which reflects the concerning trajectory of the Burkinabe authorities." ■
