WINDHOEK, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) Chief Executive Officer Sebulon Chicalu said on Friday that strengthening partnerships with Chinese tourism stakeholders remains a key priority in the country's international tourism marketing strategy.
"China remains one of the world's most dynamic outbound tourism markets. As Namibia continues to diversify its international source markets, we recognize the strategic importance of the Chinese market in supporting sustainable tourism growth, investment and cultural exchange," Chicalu said.
He made the remarks at a stakeholder engagement meeting in Windhoek, held under the theme "Strengthening Partnerships for Growth in the Chinese Tourism Market."
The event brought together representatives from Chinese destination management companies and tour operators, government officials and other tourism industry stakeholders to strengthen cooperation and explore ways to boost visitor arrivals from China.
"The NTB remains committed to working hand in hand with our partners to strengthen destination awareness, develop innovative travel packages, and position Namibia as Africa's most authentic and unforgettable destination for Chinese travelers," Chicalu said.
According to the latest Tourist Statistical Report released on Thursday, China ranked eighth among Namibia's overseas tourism source markets, with 9,657 tourists, accounting for 0.8 percent of total tourist arrivals. ■
