HARARE, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe on Tuesday pledged 1 million U.S. dollars to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to help fight the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced the pledge during a high-level virtual meeting of African heads of state, government, and partners, which was convened by the Africa CDC.

"The Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda is a continental threat requiring unified African solutions," Mnangagwa said on social media platform X. "In line with our mandate, Zimbabwe pledges one million U.S. dollars to Africa CDC for immediate containment and regional preparedness."

Although Zimbabwe has not reported any cases of the viral disease, the country remains on high alert, activating its preparedness measures and incident management systems under a comprehensive operational response plan.
