JERUSALEM, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Israel has sent Iron Dome aerial defense batteries and personnel to operate them to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a conference at Tel Aviv University, Huckabee said the move was made possible under the Abraham Accords, the ties-normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab states, including the UAE, first signed in 2020.
"I'd like to say a word of appreciation for the United Arab Emirates, the first Abraham Accord member," he said. "Just look at the benefits. Israel just sent them Iron Dome batteries and personnel to help operate them."
The remarks underscored the growing military ties between Israel and the UAE, as a fragile ceasefire in the Iran war largely continues to hold.
Israel has not so far issued an official confirmation. ■
