KIGALI, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Tourism posted strong results for Rwanda in 2025, with total revenue reaching 685 million U.S. dollars, up from 647 million dollars the previous year, according to a report released Tuesday by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

The performance was supported by 1.49 million visitor arrivals, attracted in part by Rwanda's mountain gorilla trekking and new experiences across its national parks, the report said.

Data showed that the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions segment generated 94.7 million dollars, up from 84.8 million dollars in 2024.

The report also highlighted that Rwanda hosted 165 international and regional events, further strengthening its position as a destination for high-value tourism and global gatherings.

The annual report pointed to sustained performance across key sectors, ongoing reforms, and progress in positioning Rwanda as a competitive destination for investment, trade, and tourism.

In a statement, Chief Executive Officer of RDB Jean-Guy Afrika said last year's performance underscores continued progress in supporting Rwanda's economic fundamentals and delivering on the country's priorities across investment, exports, tourism, and service delivery.

"We remain focused on building a predictable and competitive environment that enables private sector growth and long-term development," he said.
