LUSAKA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- China and Zambia on Thursday launched a painting exhibition in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, showcasing the construction history of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, and the cultural landscapes and natural scenery along its route.

The exhibition includes 38 artworks from the National Museum of China and 11 works by Zambian artists, featuring a fusion of traditional Chinese painting and distinctive Zambian artistic styles.

During his remarks at the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing described the exhibition as a key activity of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges in Zambia and a meaningful tribute to a project that transformed regional connectivity.

"Through these art pieces, we hope to offer an opportunity for more people to pay tribute to our shared history and deepen mutual understanding," Han said.

Han emphasized that the revitalization of the railway is progressing, which will support industrial parks, logistics centers, agro-processing hubs, and manufacturing industries along the route, bringing jobs, investment, and modern infrastructure closer to communities.

In a speech read by his representative, Zambia's Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba said the exhibition reflects more than artistic collaboration, calling it "a powerful expression of shared history and future ambition."

He praised the partnership between the two countries' museums as a model for cultural diplomacy and future cooperation.

"This exhibition shows how museums can foster dialogue, strengthen international relations, and inspire future generations," he said.

The minister added that the railway project remains a clear demonstration of what solidarity, cooperation, and a shared vision for progress can achieve.
