HARARE, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe and Botswana on Wednesday signed several agreements to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors during the fifth session of Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC) held in Harare, capital of Zimbabwe.

The signing of the accords was presided over by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and visiting Botswana President Duma Boko.

Some agreements covered areas such as defense, trade and investment promotion, immigration, the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, aeronautical search and rescue, civil aircraft accident investigation, as well as correctional services.

According to a communique issued at the end of the BNC, the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and collaborating on the Museum of African Liberation while intensifying efforts to combat livestock theft and other cross-border crimes.

The leaders noted ongoing investments in transport corridors and border infrastructure, pledging to facilitate the ease of movement of people, goods, and services between the two neighboring countries.

The communique noted that Mnangagwa expressed appreciation for Botswana's unwavering commitment and principled stance regarding the removal of illegal economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West.

Furthermore, both nations committed to lobbying for global recognition for the sustainable utilization of wildlife resources to ensure African perspectives are reflected in global conservation policies.
