KINSHASA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) said Friday that 15 third-country nationals deported by the United States had arrived in its capital, Kinshasa, under a temporary reception arrangement.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Communication and Media, the arrival marked the start of the first operational phase of the program reached with the United States.

The statement said the individuals were admitted on short-stay permits, in accordance with national laws governing the entry and residence of foreigners, as well as the country's international commitments.

It said the arrangement was "strictly transitional, temporary and time-limited" and did not constitute either long-term settlement on the territory or permanent relocation.

According to the statement, reception, supervision and support for the individuals are financed by the U.S. government, in compliance with security requirements, existing administrative regulations and recognized standards for the orderly management of migration flows.
