PORTO-NOVO, Benin, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Joseph Djogbenou was officially sworn in on Wednesday as president of Benin's National Assembly.
"By electing us to the National Assembly on Jan. 11, 2026, the Beninese people, through the sovereign expression of their will, have entrusted us with the responsibility to respond to their legitimate expectations and to safeguard their integrity and existence," he said.
He also stressed that the policy of regionalizing development should be translated into legislative action.
Djogbenou, a politician, lawyer and academic, was born on March 20, 1969. ■
