NAIROBI, April 9 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed after a demolition site collapsed here on Wednesday, the police confirmed on Thursday.
Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud said the building was being demolished at the Highrise estate when it suddenly caved in and trapped at least ten people.
"Rescuers have confirmed we lost three people in the tragedy. The injured were admitted to hospitals," Mohamud said.
Following the incident, authorities have called on construction sites to strictly adhere to safety regulations and building standards to prevent similar accidents. ■
