LOME, April 4 (Xinhua) -- A China-aided emergency food assistance project was delivered to Togo on Thursday.
During a handover ceremony in Lome, the capital of Togo, Afo Salifou Ousmane, secretary-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad of Togo, expressed sincere gratitude for China's valuable support on behalf of the Togolese government.
He said that Togo is currently facing persistent challenges in food security and China's food assistance has effectively alleviated the urgent needs of the most vulnerable groups.
China has become an important strategic partner in helping Togo achieve its development priorities, which range from infrastructure development and support for the healthcare system to cooperation in security and agriculture, Ousmane said.
Wang Min, Chinese ambassador to Togo, said that the emergency food assistance project is among the first outcomes of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Togo.
The food aid embodies the profound friendship of the Chinese people and represents concrete measures taken by China to support Togo in improving people's livelihoods and addressing food security challenges, she said.
It is also a vivid example of China's commitment to building a community with a shared future for humanity, she said.
The first batch of assistance was delivered in the first half of 2025, and the second arrived in February this year, marking the completion of the delivery of all project materials. ■
