DAR ES SALAAM, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's Minister of Energy Deogratius Ndejembi on Tuesday directed the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA) to ensure the timely distribution of fuel to major storage depots in a bid to stabilize supply across the country.

The directive was issued during a high-level meeting in Dar es Salaam involving the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) and Tanzania International Petroleum Reserves Limited (TIPER), which reviewed the handling and reception of imported petroleum products.

Ndejembi also instructed PBPA to establish an efficient fuel-offloading system to ensure equitable and timely supply to key depots nationwide, with the move expected to ease distribution bottlenecks and improve fuel availability.

Consultations with TIPER have resulted in plans to streamline offloading schedules to ensure fair access for fuel distributors, he noted, also assuring the public of sufficient fuel reserves in the country.

He further tasked EWURA with closely monitoring distribution to ensure fuel reaches intended users, while calling on fuel stations to align sales with actual market demand.
