ABUJA, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian President Bola Tinubu will embark on a historic visit to Britain on Tuesday, the first one by a leader of Africa's most populous nation in 37 years, presidency officials said on Monday.

Tinubu and his wife will be received at Windsor Castle during the two-day visit on Wednesday and Thursday, at the invitation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, according to a statement from the president's spokesman. He will also be the first Nigerian leader to be hosted by a British monarch at Windsor Castle.

Nigeria and Britain share deep historical ties and a longstanding relationship, the statement said, adding that the visit aims "to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for collaboration on issues such as immigration, trade, investment and cultural exchange."

At Windsor Castle, the two leaders will tour a Royal Collection exhibition on Nigeria, hold private talks and meet interfaith organizations. Tinubu will also meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.

The visit is expected to expand bilateral ties and conclude with agreements on trade, investment, defense and cultural cooperation, it said.
