DAR ES SALAAM, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The Tanzanian government is closely monitoring the evolving security situation in the Middle East and has urged its citizens in the region to exercise heightened caution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation said in a statement on Tuesday.

In light of the deteriorating security environment, the government advised Tanzanians residing in or planning to travel to Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman to take necessary precautions.

The ministry noted that during periods of heightened insecurity, the provision of in-person consular assistance may be limited depending on location and prevailing conditions.

Tanzanians in the region are therefore advised to avoid non-essential travel to or from the Middle East, remain indoors where possible, adhere strictly to directives issued by local authorities, and avoid areas with security or military activity, said the statement.

It said citizens are also encouraged to rely on official communication channels for updates and to keep their passports and identification documents in secure, easily accessible locations in case of an emergency.

The government further urged Tanzanians in the Middle East to register through the ministry's official diaspora registration platform to facilitate close monitoring and timely assistance, the statement added.
